CG Visions has been part of the BIM (Building Information Model) evolution for over 8 years and has helped in the development and more importantly the application of the software technology. CG Visions kicks off the process by spending time imbedded with the builder researching and understanding their critical building practices and operations. We understand this by sharing the perspective of the core management staff, CAD, purchasing and estimating departments, along with their construction staff, and if applicable, their manufacturing staff. Once the software is customized, CG Visions has a staff to support the builder’s “ramp up time” to the BIM software. While their staff is trained, CG Visions’ staff is moving forward with converting their legacy data or creating new product lines for the builder.

Once the plans are created in the BIM software, CG Visions works with other back office software solutions to create links and integration processes to pass data between the software. CG Visions believes that a BIM solution should not change the entire way a builder conducts their business. The BIM software is there to enhance the process by, creating material takeoffs and pushing that data into other software solutions.

By analyzing the BIM and evaluation of materials, the builder is able to reduce their field cycle time, reduce the amount of waste on the project, and evaluate the structure for value engineering. All are elements of the new trend to “build green.”

Once the BIM has been created, CG Visions can export the model to rendering software to create marketing documentation such as renderings, animations and multimedia marketing pieces.

By utilizing the BIM and data, there is a direct link to the marketing materials. When a change is made to the BIM, the marketing material can easily, quickly and cost effectively be updated. This ensures that the marketing data matches the construction document sets.

CG Visions has also created a link from a BIM software package into e-HomeInVision, CG Visions’ web driven virtual sales center software. With this link, when a change is made to the BIM model and document sets, the e-HomeInVision floor plan option configurator is also updated.

Framing & Panelization

In any building project, the structural information must be accurate in order for the pieces to properly fit together. More often than not, interferences occur in the field causing expensive delays and field changes which may compromise the structural integrity of the completed structure.

Building Information Modeling (BIM) technology allows for the virtual framing of these structures in a pre-construction phase; allowing for the verification of proper alignment, interference checking and installation concerns.
